I sent in the following feature request to the 'Dobe Brothers.
Align to the specified location.
Allow the user to specify a point on an object and use that point for vertical and horizontal alignments.
Case in point: I have an illustration of a book cover with a colored rectangular panel across the top. I have skewed and rotate it with a perspectival convergence so that it's now a trapezoid, but no side is horizontal or vertical. However, the bottom of the colored panel on the front cover is horizontal. I want to align the horizontal bottom of that panel with a background rectangle on the layout. To do that, I have to zoom in to the max of 4000% to make sure I get it right. Not too bad.
But later I resized and repositioned the background panel and had to do the zoom routine all over again. I think it would be very convenient to be able to designate a point on the graphic--in this case, the horizontal of the cover rectangle--and use that later to align it again.
It would also be extremely helpful to use a designated point to align other objects to some feature in a graphic (or even text block) that is not on any of the frame edges or the center of any edge.
As I think more about it, you could use the designated point to distribute objects on any kind of path, etc.
