I just started using CD5 InDesign (Snow Leopard) by opening via IDML the last issue of my magazine created in CS4. I immediately noticed that there were horizontal guides on pages where they weren't supposed to be. The guides are set up on master pages (separate but matching guides for the left and right pages of the master spreads) and wherever I had two different master pages on one spread, the horizontal guides from both master pages were merged across both pages of the spread. Vertical guides behave correctly.
I was able to reproduce the problem in a new document using the following steps:
Make a new document. Specify the size as 215mm wide and 303mm high. Place one horizontal guide on the left and another on the right of the A Master spread. Create a new B Master spread. Place two guides on left page and two on right. Add pages to make a spread. Apply A and B masters to different pages in the spread.
This results in six guides on the spread instead of the expected three. Also single pages at the beginning and end of the document show page guides on the pasteboard!
The odd thing is that when I tried this with document sizes of A4 and of 200mm by 300mm, the guides behaved correctly.
Can anyone reproduce this? Is there a way to fix it?
thanks, Bill
