Calculations in Acrobat forums (was: indesign Digest #588)
This can be very easily in Acrobat.
Create the three text fields and then set the properties by right clicking. Choose the format tab and select numbers.
For the field that will be the sum you'd also choose the calculate field. It's pretty self explanatory.

I have not paid much attention to the discussions on forms, as I hardly ever make them. Now I am regretting my inattention. I need to create a PDF form from InDesign that will include several fields that people will enter $ amounts, and these need to have a total automatically reflected in a another field. Ideally this would have multiple fields 2 of these equals $x, 3 of these equals y etc. Then a sum of the x's and y's. I have not been able to find any way to do this. At present, this is all done manually, and the people who fill in the amounts inevitably err in their arithmetic, and put in a number considerably lower than is correct. Has anyone discovered a way to do this in Acrobat?
