When I use ID CS4 on a Mac to produce ebooks via the "export for digital editions" with local formatting base for CSS styles turned on, the resulting epub is pretty awful.
The problems I'm getting are:
1. Some formatting doesn't convert properly (eg superscripts, small caps, all caps, tables).
2. Cross-heads don't stay locked to their relevant body text paragraph.
3. Page breaks aren't respected (it's impractical to create a new document for each page break as Adobe recommends).
4. Pictures and their captions are placed randomly (it's impractical to anchor these items into the text flow as Adobe recommends).
Am I expecting too much of the software at this early stage in ebook development?
Or is there something out there that will do what I want, or is someone working on something that will solve these problems?
