ID CS4 on PC (Win 7).

Client sends PDF, wants it rearranged in printer's spreads. According to
the PDF properties, all fonts are embedded subsets.

I place the pages in a new ID document, print as booklet, and a headline
set in Goudy (Type 1, according to the PDF properties) on the front
cover is all bunched up -- all of the characters on top of each other in
one space.

Find Font in ID lists no fonts. I tried installing my Goudy (not
positive it's the same version -- I don't know if there's any way to
determine exactly which version is used in the client's PDF) but I still
get the Goudy in a bunch when I print to booklet. The headline looks
fine when I place the PDF page in ID, it's just when I create the new
PDF (in spreads) that things go wrong.

FWIW, if I manually set up the printer's spreads and print to PDF, I get
the same wild bunch. If I export to PDF/X-4:2008, I get this message:

"One or more placed graphics include OPI information."

I create the PDF anyway, and the Goudy headline looks fine. So I assume
the OPI issue is elsewhere.

If I print to PS and distill, the Goudy also looks fine.

I can resign myself to doing the spreads manually and not using print to
booklet, but I'd still like to find out why the type is bunching up
under some circumstances but not others.

Anyone got any theories?
