GREP: $1 vs. \1 (Dollar vs. Backslash)
Can somebody inform me why the InDesign practice is to use the dollar sign for matched expressions, as opposed to the backslash ($1, $2, etc, instead of \1, \2, etc.)? Other environments I've worked in use the backslash, and saves the dollar sign syntax for actual variables.
What's the logic here? Peter?
