Good, quick, cheap ... and now it's sourced!
Whoo knoo?
Cleaning up files on my computer, I ran across a PDF from the UN on GIS and mapping ("Handbook on Geographic Systems and Mapping"). I couldn't remember what it was about, so I scanned through it and stumbled across a diagram on p. 46 that showed a triangle. The top angle was labled "Cost," and the two on the base were labled "Speed" and "Quality." There were three ellipses around each pair (cost-speed, speed-quality, and cost-quality).
The figure was titled "Trade-offs in the Data Conversion Process (after Hohl, 1998)," which referred to a book by Pat Hohl, "GIS Data Conversion,:Strategies, Techniques, and Management."
Heyyyy, wait a minute. I know this! "You can get it quick, cheap, and fast. Pick any two."
Now that old adage from publishing has been gussied up in academic togs and given proper credentials and ... sourcing!
