Is the ADobe Community Help Client actually helpful or just plain MUBAR, as in "messed up ..."?
In IDCS5, I want to find out how to transfer my CS4 shortcuts to CS5. I know if I just load them into CS5, I'll run into problems (the "Return" and "Enter" keys don't work in dialog boxes, and then there's that Delete and Paste problem). So, I went to the Indesign Help (first on the menu list) and wound up looking at the Community Help Client and the Acrobat 9 Pro list of links. When I clicked on the dropdown menu in the upper left, I selected IDCS5 and .... nothing happened.
Is this Com Help thing just woefully foxtrotted up? Or is the UI so pitifully pitiful that it merely seems like it's foxtrotted up?
While I'm at it, when I selected Online Help (last item in the same menu), I wound up looking at "Indesign Home," the basic IDCS5 welcome page. If I want Online Help, take me there, fer cryin' out loud! I hate misleading links like this.
FWIW, I'm looking for a technique that someone described for exporting the CS4 shortcuts, editing them outside ID to be recognized by CS5, and then reimporting them. I've made perhaps 100 shortucts and have memorized so many of them that they're now second nature. Lo and Behold, CS4 shortcuts loaded into CS5 emasculate the Return-Enter keys in the dialog boxes and in some way cause the Delete-Paste problem I described last month. I'm finally getting around to doing something about the shortcuts, and I'd much rather tweak the CS4 list than reenter them all over again in CS5.
If the author of the CS4-export-tweak sees this, I'd appreciate it if you'd repost it.
