Replying to myself... hmmm. Tested a few files and I am actually not seeing the resizing behavior mentioned in ID 6.0.5 release notes. Works ok for me, nothing resizing unless I change "crop to" import option.
But we have tons of placed ai files... so in case it does bite,
Javascripters/Applescripters -- anyone know how to find out what a placed image in ID is "cropped to" (bounding box, art, crop, trim, bleed, or media)?? Adobe says there is no known way to tell, but thinks maybe it is somewhere in the dom.
(I don't see anything in applescript, but maybe I'm missing it)

Mac? PC? CS4? 6.0.5??
Supposedly ID CS4 update 6.0.5 has something to do with this issue.
>From 6.0.5 release notes http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/822/cpsid_82278.html IMPORTANT: This update fixes an issue in how InDesign CS4 calculates the bounding boxes of placed AI/PDF files. The behavior is now consistent with the behavior of InDesign CS3. *Users with existing CS4 files may notice a repositioning of placed AI/PDF files when updating their links*
OH GREAT. First I had to reposition things in CS3 files that got updated to CS4 and then graphics updated and came in wrong... NOW after 6.0.5 update I'll have to do it AGAIN?? omg.
Actually I myself have been importing/reimporting everything with crop to "crops" instead of to bounding box. But despite my pleas, few of my co-workers have.
Anybody experience the 6.0.5 "repositioning" yet???

I have this annoying problem : In my InDesign document, I've got a lot of imported vector graphics. I have to change the size of the fonts in these, so I open them in Illustrator, do my modifications and when InDesign refreshes the link, it changes the scale of the graphics ??? Is there a way to avoid that ?
