We have (literally) thousands of old PM 6.5 files for our publications. It is a very rare case that we need to revise these particular publications, but it does happen now and again. As InDesign (when we got it) would open and convert PM files to InDesign, and we had a backup PageMaker machine, we didn't make any effort to convert the whole catalog as being cost prohibitive and unnecessary.
Now word has come down from the powers that be that our backup PM machine will be going at the end of the year, and just as this has occurred, none of us can open the PM files in InDesign any more. We always get a message that says the file is damaged and cannot be recovered. Doesn't matter which file, how old, etc. Of course the same files always open like a champ on the PM machine.
Has anybody run in to anything like this before?
