One of my hard drives has gone screwy - it powers up, makes a few clicks and whirling sounds, then (sounds like) it powers down. (Ear pressed to casing diagnosis!) No lights. And no mounted icon. Of course there is data on here that is needed. I'm lead to believe from searching Google that the 'no "power on" light' is indicative of power supply failure rather than drive failure. Can I take the hard drive out and use something like NewerTech's USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter to access the data? Or is this a bad idea?
Thanks Jim
