Assuming that you are using POP3 and SMTP with Eudora, it is possible that either your internet provider and/or your e-mail server host has changed ports for security reasons. In my case, over a year ago, ComCrap (the cable folks) started filtering our all Port 25 packets and forced me to change to Port 572 (if I remember correctly) for all outgoing SMTP e-mail. Fortunately, my e-mail server provider, 1and1 (ComCrap's e-mail was unbearable) also allowed Port 572. You may some accounts and providers that allows the alternate port and others that don't..

PS: Although Eudora was great in its day, it really isn't supported by anyone anymore and is very problematic with anything other than plain ASCII (and not Unicode) e-mail messages.
