I think the iPad will be voice controlled, or at least have dictation for any field built in. The free Dragon Dictate and Dragon Search apps that were released a couple of weeks ago are (I hope) a public test of the voice recognition software. I hope that it will also have pen input.
And a related prediction, for the future of newspapers, I predict that there will continue to be local newspapers, but national and international news will not be printed on newsprint by the millions, but instead will be read on gadgets like the iPad. Pamphlets will see a resurgence but they'll be electronic.
There will be jobs for designers and production artists, but our work will change a lot.
Also, there will be new opportunities for investigative reporters. Their stories will not appear on commercial TV, or any media owned by the big international megacorps. Those will continue to pretend to be news, but will increasingly be regarded as spokesmodels for corporate interests.
