My gmail inbox has tens of thousands of messages. I figured I'd just
get rid of them en masse by searching for certain types of e-mails,
e.g. e-mails from specific Yahoo groups, and deleting all of them.

I got this to work ONCE. I did a search which resulted in thousands of
messages, and there was an option showing for deleting ALL of the
e-mails with that search result. But it's never worked again. I
searched for another term and found thousands more messages, but the
only option shown for deleting them is to select the 20 messages that
show in the inbox window and delete them, then select the next 20,
etc.

At that rate, it would take my months to delete them all, and I'd have
carpal tunnel syndrome.

I've checked the help files and no joy.

Does anyone know how to search and destroy mass messages in gmail?
