Snow Leopard 10.6 -- don't name a file or folder or disk with a # sign
Have Snow Leopard and InDesign?
Summary, in 10.6.2, don't name a file or folder or disk with a # sign like "Macintosh HD#2" or "Project #4"!
Do this to make your heart stop.
Rename a folder that has a lot of InDesign files in it -- and put a # in the folder name, like "Project #4 Folder"
Now, in the Finder, double-click all the ID files in the folder ... or select in Finder and choose File... Open.. in Finder or command-o or drag to InDesign icon in dock!
Oh Mercy, you say, What is a "Missing required parameter 'from' for event 'open.'" ...OK. All we know is it means your file won't open!
Will it open in Bridge? ah, there it is, surely Bridge will open any InDesign file it sees... NO! No way.
Fear not they WILL open when you are in InDesign itself, with File... Open... menu or cmd-o, just not in the Finder or Bridge.
Or just don't use # and you're fine (unless anybody knows other "weird characters")
No, this doe not happen in Leopard 10.5 or Tiger 10.4 (Apple?) No, this does not happen with any other program I've tried (Adobe?, I can name an ai file #2 and it works ok!)
