Whatcha think of Duplicate Image Detector?
My Mac system has a gesundheit of duplicates. If, say, I search for a client's logo I may find 30 or more copies of the same PSD file with the same mod date.
I've looked at small apps that find duplicates, but any eliminating I do will have to maintain links in programs like InDesign.
Duplicate Image Detector ( http://www.blackbilby.com/did.html ) finds the duplicates, lets you keep the ones you choose, and aliases the others. That could save me gigabytes of disk space on my getting-full Mac Book Pro 13.
There's a demo that finds everything, but doesn't make changes.
I wrote to the developer and asked if his program actually did what I was hoping. He wrote back promptly (from far across one of the ponds) and said he wan't expert in Adobe products but my question had prompted some limited tests that seemed to work fine. It was a forthcoming and helpful response.
Is anyone using this or another piece of software to accomplish my purpose? Aliasing PSD and other large files to save disk space.
